Why I Created These Socks 🀎 Be Present, Take Up Space

Why I Created These Socks?

Be Present. Take Up Space.

Those words mean a lot more to me than just what’s printed across a pair of socks.

I created these socks because I believe Black women deserve more reminders to be present.

We spend so much time thinking about what happened yesterday or worrying about what tomorrow will bring. What if, even for a moment, we allowed ourselves to simply be where our feet are?

To notice how we feel.

To listen to what our mind and body are telling us.

To experience the moment we're actually living instead of constantly replaying the past or preparing for the future.

Be present.

And then there’s take up space.

For me, that means being unapologetically yourself. It means not changing who you are to make other people comfortable. It means allowing yourself to be seen, heard, and fully expressed.

And sometimes, it means walking into spaces where you may not see many people who look like you and remembering:

You belong here, too.

You don't need to shrink yourself because a space wasn't originally built with you in mind.

You don't need permission to show up as yourself.

You belong in the room.
You belong at the table.
You belong in the conversation.
You belong in these spaces.

That's the meaning behind these socks.

A small, everyday reminder to ground yourself in right now and to move through the world as your full self.

So when you put them on, I hope you remember:

Be Present.
Take Up Space. 🀎
